Tour de Fleece 2010 Days 1-3

Tour de Fleece
Days 1-3

I didn't forget about the Tour de Fleece this year but I wasn't paying attention to the date that it would begin. It was 11:15 pm on June 30, day one, when I realized that I had to spin something or I would be behind at the very beginning. Of course that is when I discovered  that I didn't have an empty spindle. The Lendrum wheel stayed in Florida so it was spindling or nothing. By the end of day one, one CD spindle was cleared, repaired, and had about two layers of merino/angora on it.

My intention is to spin a full laundry basket of Shetland and blend it with some angora but the Shetland needs to be combed first. That was the project on day 2. I finished a small basket of black and white wool.  Now if I could get DH to fix the porch swing the rest of the combing could happen outside.  Most of the rest of the fleece I will be working on will be muskit.

Day 3 so far has been taken up by finding the right shade of angora, and  posting photos but combing and spinning will commence soon.

Here is the angora I have decided to use:

The book in the photo is Angora: A Handbook for Spinners by Erica Lynne, a must-have for anyone who likes angora rabbits and fiber, IMHO.
